CRYOTHERAPY

Cryotherapy, or Cold Therapy, is a modality commonly used after arthroscopic procedures. Cryotherapy is the use of cold for the treatment of physical disorders. Clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of cold compression dressings after simple arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, and total knee arthroplasty . Cryotherapy has been shown to decrease patients narcotic consumption, length of hospitalization, pain, swelling, inflammation, hematoma formation, and drainage, while also increasing patients range of motion, compliance with rehabilitation, and tolerance of weight bearing.

All of our Cryotherapy products use our patented reusable, non toxic gel bags that remain malleable after freezing. Our gel bags stay cold for more than an hour . Using gel bags eliminates the mess associated with ice and zip lock bags. Louis Wright Medical's gel bags are both cold and hot. Freezer for cold and microwave for heat.

Louis Wright Medical, Inc. offers a complete line of Cryotherapy compression wraps. All of the wraps have sewn pockets to help position the gel and protect the skin from direct contact with the gel bags. Each wrap uses velcro closure to position the wrap correctly on the extremity and prevent migration of the brace.
